Hi, I’m Rocio .

My practice draws from attachment theory and I use a number of evidence- based modalities in session. Internal Family Systems (IFS) forms the foundation of how I understand the world around me.

I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and some elements of Narrative Therapy. I use somatic and polyvagal techniques into my practice, stemming from Polyvagal Theory.

I am aware that therapy doesn’t occur in a vacuum and bring this awareness into my practice and consider it the baseline and foundation of any therapeutic work I do. I am passionate about challenging the stigma surrounding mental health issues, radical self-care, celebrating neurodiversity and I follow a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach to health and wellbeing.

I use a feminist framework for practice and my work is underpinned by ethics of social justice and advocacy, appreciation of intersectional oppression and the pursuit of dignity in a world where this is lacking for many.

In addition to my role in private practice, I am currently working as a trauma specialist counsellor in a non-government organization. I am also a trainer and experienced in providing vicarious trauma management support to workers who are exposed to traumatic information or working with traumatized people.

I work with individuals 16 years and above internationally and provide psychotherapeutic services in English, Spanish and Galician.
